NURSING HOME ABUSE-FALL AND NEGLECT ANIMATION
In a nursing home abuse case, a son's repeated requests for a bed pad alarm for his elderly mother had been ignored. This common device would alert the nursing staff monitoring her so she could move safely in her room. After a recent stroke and effects of dementia, walking any distance was difficult for her without oversight. She left her room and made it several feet down the hall before falling. She writhed in pain and pulled herself down the hallway, using her fingers to pull herself, finally collapsing, alone and unattended for over an hour without any help. We created two animations, one showing what actually happened and the other, a common preventive measure that had been requested daily by her son. Storyboards were generated from the animation for use at depositions. |
